What is a gas? This demo shows how gases are matter and they take up space - they have volume. It also shows how gases are more or less buoyant than room air.
Heat Causes Matter to Expand When matter is heated, the particles move around more and take up more space. This causes the matter to expand. Watch metal expand in this demo.
Surface Tension In this video you will see the inward pull of water molecules as they are dropped onto a penny. Then he does the same thing with soapy water but he doesn't explain what the soap does to surface tension. Watch the video and then read the rest of this description. -----> Soap molecules are different than water molecules. Soap molecules DON'T stick together and they DON'T stick to the water molecule. One part of the soap molecule is attracted to water and the other part wants to push water away. The soap breaks the surface tension that water has, it breaks those bonds between the water molecules.
