MHS Science Teacher Email Phone: (262) 363-6200 x25286 Twitter: @mmmatenaer Hi, my name is Mark Matenaer. I am a science teacher at Mukwonago High School. I currently teach Biology I and Project Lead the Way - Human Body Systems.
I am originally from West Bend, Wisconsin, where I was born and raised. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a bachelor's degree in zoology with a strong emphasis in clinical laboratory science. After graduating, I accepted a job as a medical technologist at Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
After working 5+ years in a professional medical laboratory, I decided to get my educator's license. I received my teaching certification from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have my educator licenses in Biology EA-A and Life/Environmental Science EA-A. Since then, I have also received my master's degree in Administrative Leadership with a concentration in Educational Administration & Supervision from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Before coming to Mukwonago High School, I previously taught at Fond du Lac High School.
As a teacher, my main goal is to teach my students important concepts using inquiry-based learning and the learning cycle. I want to provide them with techniques and skills that will serve them well into the future and prepare them to make a positive impact in their community and our environment. I strive to provide students with a stimulating and healthy classroom atmosphere that allows them to make the most of their learning experience.
I use google classroom as my classroom website to post the lesson for each day, as well as notes, handouts, assignments, and the learning target.
I look forward to a great school year!
