Composting at Eagleville
Composting is a large part of Eagleville's environmental focus. It is important to teach the students to be responsible citizens of the earth -- respecting our earth is respecting ourselves! Eagleville composts in a school wide effort to reduce waste sent to landfills. Lunch scraps are composted daily and rain barrels are used to collect water necessary for the composting process.

Worms love coffee grounds.

Newspaper or plain white paper from the computer is excellent for composting - shred first.

Finished compost is usually less than 1/2 the volume of the materials you started with - much more dense.

For faster composting, keep your compost in direct sun.

Leaves and grass clippings can also be used in composting.
Use a compost turner to aerate your compost.
Going Green
Eagleville currently takes part in the Wisconsin Green and Healthy Schools program. It is a web-based, voluntary program available to all Wisconsin public and private elementary, middle, and high schools. The program is designed to support and encourage schools while they convert to an environmentally friendly learning environment.
