Mission Statement:

The mission of the Prairie View Elementary Library is to ensure that all students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

Facilities & Resources:

  • Seating available =  60 chairs, 8 tables and 13 computer workstations
  • Computers are networked to a local area network and the District's  wide-area network
  • BYOD= Bring Your Own Device wireless available throughout the building (filtered)
  • There are 13 student workstations available with Internet
    via a high speed connection, 1 with a scanner and 2 media PCs
  • Building has multiple wireless access points (network secure)
  • Cart(ePANTHER) w/ 25 Dell Laptops
  • 5 GOOGLE Chromebook Carts with 25-36 Chromebooks in each
  • 3 Color NOOKS and 3 Simple Touch NOOKS with multiple eBOOKS loaded
  • Mounted Smart Board and HP laptop access
  • (1) Document Camera
  • PKAT-TV: School-wide weekly student announcements (Mondays)
  • Collection is approximately 12,000 items

Policies:
Loan Period for books is approximately 2 weeks.

Reference books  may not be checked out.  They are to be used IN the library.

Fines:
There are no fines for overdue books.  Students in grades 1-6 may have up to three books out at a time.  If a student has an overdue book(s), it will count as one of the three he/she may have out at one time.   Students must pay the replacement cost for lost books.  Reports will be sent home to alert parents.

Scheduling:
All students visit the library weekly for book selection, literacy appreciation and informational literacy skills instruction.  The library technology specialist also supports technology instruction and integration of technology skills throughout the school year.

Hours:
The PVES library will be open daily from 7:45AM-3:45PM.

Rules: 
The library will actively enforce the Prairie View Guidelines for Success.

Volunteers:
The Library needs volunteers for circulation duties and for help with the upkeep of library materials.  Any parent who is willing to lend a hand in the library is welcomed and needed.  Please see Miss Zielke to fill out an informational form before getting started.  No previous experience is necessary.  Miss Zielke will train you as needed.
