Dear Prairie View Families,
I am so excited to come and serve the Prairie View Elementary community as the newly appointed principal! It is clear to me from the beginning what a special school I am entering, and I am excited to work with all of you in order to continue that great legacy. I look forward to meeting you all personally, but I wanted to take some time to introduce myself before then to our Prairie View families.
My educational background has helped to grow my knowledge base and give me diverse experiences. I grew up in Reedsburg, WI, and I attended Wartburg College in Iowa where I got my bachelor’s degree in English Education. I taught students English for 18 years in the classroom before leaving to become the Humanities Coordinator in the School District of Waukesha. In that role, I helped facilitate curriculum teams and was an instructional coach. For the last two school years, I was an Assistant Principal at Waukesha South High School. I have a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UW-Whitewater and have my principal and curriculum licenses from Marian University.
My husband and I have four children, Kasey (15), Isaiah (14), Ariel (12), and Mckenzie (6). Between the four of them, we are frequently at track meets, golf meets, musicals, choir and orchestra concerts, tennis practices, swim lessons, and soccer games. My husband, Erik, is a high school math teacher at Waukesha West High School. In my time away from school, I enjoy reading, cooking, music, and spending time watching my children participate in their many activities. My husband and I moved here knowing the high-quality of schools, and I am now looking forward to continuing my professional career in the same community we are raising our children.
I have been able to spend the beginning days of my time at Prairie View with Mrs. Stockwell who has given me a wealth of information about the school and community. Together, we are working through a transition that will best serve our students, families, and staff. I am committed to continuing all the great traditions that Prairie View has and looking forward to starting new traditions with the students and staff. I believe collaboration is key, and your role as parents/guardians is essential. Please be involved in our school community in ways from asking your child how his/her day was every day to coming in and joining us in classrooms and for other special events.
With the talented staff at Prairie View, I am committed to continue making Prairie View Elementary a school where each and every child can engage in active learning, respectful actions, and critical thinking in order to accomplish his/her dreams and goals. Please continue to check the website for information related to the start of the school year and more information about the “Meet and Greet.” In the meantime, my door is always open to discuss any questions, concerns, or celebrations you may want to share. You can contact me at 262-392-6310 ext. 26500 or at email@example.com. I look forward to working with you and your child in the upcoming school year!
