Developmental screening for children ages 3 and 4

Screening for 3 and 4 year olds will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 and Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Clarendon Avenue School. Developmental areas to be screened include pre-readiness skills (short-term memory, ability to attend and follow directions, knowledge of basic colors, etc.), speech and language, fine and gross motor skills, and vision and hearing. This screening is for Mukwonago Area School District (MASD) residents only. There is no cost for the screening, but registration is necessary. To register, call 262-363-6300 ext. 24203, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM. The screening process will take approximately 45 minutes. The screening is not a mandatory experience for children, but rather an opportunity for parents to have their child’s general development assessed. It is a part of the MASD’s Child Find process to identify students with developmental delays.   • Waukesha County Essay Contest

    Wisconsin Math League Contest

    Big Bend Elementary finished 16th in the state in the annual Wisconsin Mathematics League contest. The test is given to select students in grades 6-8. Big Bend Elementary had 15 students in 5th grade and 15 students in 6th grade participating in the 35 question contest in February. John M. (1st place), Sara S., Emma H., Trenton J., and Kasey K. rounded out the top five participants from BBES.

  • BBES DPI School Report Card

    BBES finished in the top 15% of all schools in Wisconsin according to the DPI.

    BBES Artsonia Recognition

    Artsonia, the World's largest online kid's art museum,recently recognized Big Bend Elementary School art teacher Amy Kratochvil for outstanding leadership in the area of Arts Education. Big Bend's art program has ranked in the top 10 inthe state of Wisconsin for eleven consecutive years. Last school year the BBES art gallery showcased 3630 pieces of artwork which were viewed a total of 188,113 times and received 546 comments! Mrs. Kratochvil was one of 10 teachers in the nation for receiving Artsonia's Annual Leadership award which honors teachers who go beyond the classroom walls to encourage family and community involvement in Arts Education. Please see the News Release (attached at theend of this newsletter)for more information on how Mrs. Kratochvil earned this award and how lucky we are to have gifted student artists and supportive families.
