Construction has affected many of us in this area due to bridge work and road repair/improvements. Big Bend Elementary had a front row seat for a couple weeks in January while phase one of a major Highway 164 DOT project began in front of our school. Thank you for your patience during drop off and pick up times.The next construction-related headache is scheduled for mid-May when they work on sewer lines on the west side of Highway 164 in front of our school.
Open Enrollment for the Mukwonago Area School District will be held February 4-April 30, 2013. Students in 5 year old kindergarten to grade 12 may apply to participate in open enrollment. To apply go to http://dpi.wi.gov/sms/psctoc.html . You may fill out and submit the application on-line. For the 2013-2014 school year, parents must apply no earlier than midnight on Feb. 4 and no later than 4:00 p.m. on April 30, 2013. If you do not have access to a computer, please contact Laura Stroika at the Mukwonago Area School District (262) 363-6300 x-24101.
Kindergarten registration is scheduled to begin on March 5 from 6-7pm. Please stop in at that time or anytime after that to fill out paperwork and schedule a tour (optional).

5th Grade Band Spring Recruitment is almost here!
Recruitment for beginning band for the 2013-2014 school year will be happening in the spring of 2013 this year.The elementary band teachers will be holding three district wide instrument fitting nights to choose instruments and sign up for 5thgrade beginning band.
To make an appointment for an instrument fitting please clickhereand sign up on any night that works for you. Students must make an appointment for an instrument fitting before enrolling for beginning band. More information about joining band will be coming home before the instrument fittings.

Miss Kindergarten Registration?
Miss Kindergarten Registration? Please contact your local school to register. Children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2013 should register for the 2013-2014 school year. Bring a copy of your child's birth certificate for age verification.
Screening for 3 and 4 year olds will take place on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 and Thursday,August 8, 2013, at Clarendon School. Developmental areas to be screened include pre-readiness skills (short-term memory, the ability to attend and follow directions, knowledge of basic colors, etc.), speech and language, fine motor/gross motor skills, and vision/hearing.
Registration for screening is necessary. To register, call 363-6300, Ext. 24203, between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.
The screening process will take approximately forty-five minutes.
The screening process is not a mandatory experience for children, but rather an opportunity for parents to have their child’s general development assessed. This screening is for Mukwonago Area School District residents only.

Elementary Summer School Announcement - All Mukwonago Families!
The format of summer school at Clarendon has changed! Our theme is Passport to Learning, and all classes will revolve around the theme of travel.

The Mukwonago Gymnastics Recreation Club will be holding summer classes. Classes are held in the Mukwonago High School gymnastics balconies. There will be one class for boys (grades 1-3) and the rest are for girls. Beginner and advanced classes will be held during 2 week camps from 9:00-10:00 am. Gymnasts may sign up for one or more of the camps. The “Special Class” is for the gymnast who is more serious and working toward competitive skills. Please register in advance.
